The family of five-year-old Lordina Nyameye is appealing for help for the little girl to undergo surgery to cure her hole-in-heart medical condition.
The family resident in Effiduase, a suburb of Koforidua in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern region say Lordina has been suffering from the condition for over a year.
According to her 24-year-old mother, Abena Serwaa who is not of a sound mind, they had no idea of the illness until they realised she was breathing fast.
Abena Serwaa’s grandmother, Maame Abena kwakyewaa indicated that because of how Lordina Nyameye was breathing, they sent her to Seventh Day Adventist hospital in Koforidua and were given some drugs and later referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Lordina was later diagnosed of the hole in the heart condition, requiring surgery.
But Lordina’s family cannot afford the cost of the surgery.
Lordina Nyameye’s class teacher at Effiduase Methodist C, Madam Josephine Tettey said nurses who come on routine tests also discovered that she had a hole in her heart. He mother was told and she also confirmed that they are aware of the little girl’s condition but because the family is financially handicapped, it has become difficult for them to treat her.
Madam Josephine revealed that little Lordina is always quiet when she comes to school.
She observed that Lordina breathes fast always and feels sleepy anytime learning is ongoing.
Lordina is not punctual as well.
Madam Josephine, therefore, joined the family to appeal to non-governmental organisations especially those who undertake health-centered projects, to assist Lordina and her family.
