The Second Lady Samira Bawumia has also decided to refund monies paid to her by the state since 2017.
Samira Bawumia has also said she won’t accept monies allocated to her pursuant to the recommendation by Prof. Yaa Ntiamoa-Baidu as approved by Parliament on January 6, 2021.
This decision was reached after consultation with the Vice President of Ghana Dr.Mahamudu Bawumia.
Regardless, the Second Lady indicates that she is committed to service to the nation to deliver humanitarian interventions and initiatives in the areas of health, education and economic empowerment.
Meanwhile, The First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo has totally rejected all emoluments due her saying she fears it is becoming a distraction from the good works of her husband, President Nana Akufo-Addo.
According to Maa Becky as she is affectionately called, she cannot accept the emoluments approved for her by Parliament and also rejects all discussions that portrayed her as a self-centered, vanal person regarding the emoluments.
She has thus decided to refund to the state all the monies paid her since 2017 which amounts to GHS899,097.84.
