The Ghana Police Service says it has arrested three persons who are believed to have conspired with the missing but found “pregnant” woman in Takoradi.
According to the Police, Medical Examinations run by the Doctors on the now suspect Josephine Panyin proved she had not been pregnant.
The suspect is said to have disclosed to the Police that she had her antenatal at the European Hospital but records at the hospital proved that she was there in October 2020 but had nothing to do with pregnancy.
She is now been treated as a suspect and is being investigated together with three other persons.
Police says over the period, the region has recorded several false kidnaps in peoples attempt to make money from Ransome.
However, officers have been deployed from the National Headquarters to help fight this phenomenon.
Josephine Panyin Mensah, the 28-year-old woman who was allegedly kidnapped in Takoradi even though she is carrying a nine-month-old pregnancy has been left unable to speak after she was rescued.
According to family members, she was found at Axim after her kidnappers apparently abandoned her after making attempts to take a ransom from some of her family members.
When the family members heard that he had been seen in Axim, they immediately went in search of her without informing the police.
Upon finding her, she was sent to the Axim Government Hospital for medical examination. Notwithstanding receiving some treatment from the hospital, she is still unable to speak.
