Just in – Tema West Assembly Members Paid To Endorse Incumbent MCE

 

 

 

Twelve assembly members of the Tema West Assembly are unable to understand how a register of their clandestine undertaking to unanimously sign a petition to get the Jubilee House to retain their sitting MCE has gone viral on social media.

The list has January 6, 2021, as when it was compiled to plant doubts in Ghanaians of its authenticity, however, two of the assembly members, who pleaded anonymity for their safety, said the undertaking was taken last week, albeit they could not tell the day.
Sources alleged that the 12 Assembly members were hosted at a hideout in Tema, where two highly ranked personalities within the NPP in the Tema Wast Constituency allegedly paid each member GHc500 to retain the incumbent MCE, Adwoa Amoako when she appears before them for reappointment.

 

 

One of the moguls according to sources, holds a lucrative position in government, and the other, a former Deputy Minister, and are both residents of the Tema West Constituency, The sources said.
The incumbent MCE was eyeing her position again with Hector Sam Togoe and Anna Adokwei Addo, however, the last two were knocked out of the contest at the vetting.
The assembly members, dissatisfied by the disqualification of the two nominees by the Vetting Committee, concluded prolonging the election to reappoint the incumbent MCE when she appeared before them.

Among the Assembly members, allegedly got the two party’s moguls to call all the 12 assembly members at a hideout, sometime last week, to corner them with GHc6,000 to give Adwoa Amoako a hundred percent vote to retain her to prevent prolonging the exercise.

 

 

On the various heavyweight social media platforms some of the 12 assembly members belong, they have expressed surprise at the exposé, with some denying ever being part of any engagement for the collection of the signatures to retain the incumbent MCE.

One of such assembly members, for instance, was Nana Yaw Opoku Danso, who in a telephone said he does not recall writing his name and signing for such an amount to vote for Adwoa Amoako when she appears before the assembly members for reappointment.

He further denied writing a note of disclaimer bearing his name on the subject, which circulated on various social media platforms.
