The man of age, 23 years, is a security guard at Marina Mall which is located at East Legon in the Greater Accra Region.
The name of the security guard was identified to be Mr. Nyarko.
On Sunday, September 12, 2021, Mr. Nyarko was on duty when a former employee who was dismissed for misconduct approached him and requested for some leftover bread at the mall.
The name of the former employee was identified as Kofi Mensah.
After Mr. Nyarko offered the leftover bread to Kofi Mensah, both of them were sighted in a brief conversation inside the mall.
After the conversation, an amount of fifty thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 50,000), eight hundred dollars ($800), provisions and alcoholic drinks went missing in the mall.
The manager of East Legon branch of Marina Mall, Jameel Muawad reviewed the CCTV footage and the culprits was exposed.
It was Kofi Mensah and Mr. Nyarko who were behind the items that went missing.
In the CCTV footage, the security guard, Mr. Nyarko was seen allowing the former employee, Kofi Mensah to enter the mall and steal the items whiles he stood outside to watch him.
Jameel Muawad reported the case to the police at East Legon and Mr. Nyarko was arrested for investigations.
During the investigations, GHS 15,400, $200, deodorant, packet of sugar cube, milk beverages and toothpaste were found in Mr. Nyarko’s room.
Mr. Nyarko has now being sentenced to three (3) years imprisonment after the items found in his room were retrieved.
