UPDATE: Police declares one person wanted in Aboabo shooting incident.

 

 

 

The Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) of Asokore Mampong, Alhaji Alidu Seidu has revealed that the Police has identified a suspect in the shooting of a 16-year-old boy at Asokore Mampong, MyNewsGh.com reports.

Making the statement on Kumasi-based Pure FM in an interview with Kwame Adinkrah monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the MCE indicated that for security reasons, he will not declare the identity of the suspect but the Ashanti Regional Police Command has already mounted a manhunt for the alleged suspect who he advises to at best turn himself in.

“My briefing as of this morning is that a suspect has been declared. I know his name but to not preempt the Police activities, I will not share his identity for now but I’m informed and fully aware that they have identified the prime suspect that led to the death of the 16-year-old.” He stated.

 

 

Background

Yesterday’s Eid-Ul-Adha celebration at Aboabo No.2, in the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti Region turned bloody after a section of youth who were brandishing guns fired indiscriminately resulting in the death of one person, with another sustaining serious injury.

MyNewsGh.com is informed that the incident occurred after the Muslim community in the area observed the traditional prayers in the morning.

 

 

It is alleged that a section of the youth zoomed into a jubilant mood and brandished guns amidst firing into the air and injuring one in the process.

It is further alleged that as a result of their activities, a teenager, Abdul-Gafar Kassim was also hit by a stray bullet and was subsequently pronounced dead at the Manhyia Government Hospital where he was rushed to.
