True Drivers Union and National Concern Drivers Association has urged the government to reduce the fuel prices by June 8th 2020 otherwise they will increase the transportation fare by 20%.
The below was a press statement released:
20% FARE INCREMENT STARTING MONDAY 8 JUNE 2020.
Ghanaians should expect 20% fare increment, if government fails to reduce fuel prices coming June 8.
In adhering to the social Distancing directives to aid the fight against CONVID 19, We the drivers agreed to cut down the number of passengers in our Trotro and Taxis.
Despite this difficulties, the price of crude oil dropped drastically hence the government refused to reduce fuel prices .
This attitude of the government has shown how they disregard drivers in the country.
Drivers are not recognised by this insensitive government.
The government have provide monetary fund for the small scale and medium enterprises but drivers have be given the same consideration.
Fuel prices are always being increased and they won’t allow us to increase our fares. This is so unfair. We are giving the government up june 8 to reduce the fuel prices else we will automatically increase our fares to 20%.
Any hindrance will cause for a massive demonstration by drivers across the country.
COPEC has earlier hints the government to work on the crude oil prices as the world market is stable.
