1st June, 2020 marks the second day of the new Voters’ registration in some electoral areas across the country.
Mr. Derrick Owusu Boateng, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, went on a tour to check the situation at every registration centre to ensure that his constituents went through the registration process smoothly.
Mr Derick, visited Sepease Registration Centre where he expressed dissatisfaction in the registration process.
“Infact the hustle and struggle I see people go through in this needless Voters’ Registration is something that is disheartening. EC promised Ghanaians of a smooth and transparent registration process but what I am seeing in most Centres are the unexpected. The registration machines at most Centres are not functioning and are completely down thereby leaving electorates stranded under the canopy of scotching sun.” The PC said.
Mr Derick Owusu Boateng added that, there are no PPEs provided at various centres to aid people to protect themselves from the Corona Virus.
He also observed that, most of the centres he visited did not observe social distance simply because of the ill preparation by the EC. He also urged EC to provide strong registration machines for all registration centres especially in his constituency.
The NDC PC in his submission issued out a word of caution to EC to live up to expectation if they want a successful election 2020.
“Make it a point to register with the Electoral Commission and acquire your voters ID card for the Election Day, December 7”, Mr Derick Owusu Boateng urged his party members and supporters.
