The members in King Jesus Transport of Alliance at Kumasi Pampaso in the Ashanti Region are appealing to the government led by Nana Akufo Addo and the roads and highways ministry led by Hon Akwasi Amoako Atta to allow the commercial drivers to take their normal number of passengers and urged the passengers to adhere to the wearing of nose masks and the using of sanitizers or they should increase the transport fares by 30%.
According to the drivers, increasing the transport fares by 15% and still refusing the number of passengers they take in order to adhere to social distancing protocols amidst the corona virus pandemic outbreak in Ghana will not solve their challenges.
Again, the association also added that, the observation of the social distancing protocols in their vehicles is having a huge toll on their earnings.
Speaking with the press, they added that, the price of spare parts, fuel and others keeps still increasing so this 15% increment will not help the commercial drivers to achieve their goals, they will always be running at a lost.
They are therefore appealing to the government and the ministry of transport to do something for the transport operators.
