Afia Pokuaa, Health Minister engaged in a lying competition – NDC Dep Youth Organiser

A Deputy National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress(NDC)  Edem Agbana has stated that journalist Afia Pokuaa and Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu are both liars who cannot be trusted, declaring that the two are engaged in a battle of who lied.

“Afia Pokuaa still stands by her words that the Minister told her he was resting and not Covid-19 positive. Both Afia Pokuaa and the Minister have a track record of telling BLATANT LIES. It is difficult to trust either of them. A battle of 2 Liars over who lied! Interesting,” he alleged.

Following reports that the Minister of Health Kwaku Agyeman Manu had contracted the novel coronavirus disease and was recovering at the University of Ghana Medical Centre(UGMC), Afia Pokuaa wrote on her Facebook page, saying that he had denied the report and added that he was just taking some rest while treating his diabetes.

“Spoke to the minister of health. He says he’s fine and doesn’t have COVID but only needed rest and his usual medication.” She posted on her Facebook page.

This revelation had many mocking the Minister for choosing to rest at a COVID-19 treatment centre and not a hotel.

But in the President’s address on measures taken to contain the virus, he confirmed that the Minister had indeed contracted the virus in the line of duty.

However, Afia Pokuaa insisted that he had told her he had not contracted the disease, sparking controversy over who is telling the truth.

The Minister’s confirmation that he has indeed contracted the virus and is receiving treatment has further provoked discussions on the matter.
