Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for Sod cutting/reactivation of 44 years old abandoned maternal and children’s block project at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in the Ashanti Region.
On Friday, 15th May 2020, H.E Nana Addo cuts sod for work to begin finally to complete the 44 year old Komfo Anokye Maternity and Children Block.
The project will be completed within thirty-six (36) months, and funding, to the tune of €155 million, has been fully secured.
He also visited the Kumasi Centre for
Collaborative Research (KCCR), one of the ten (10) COVID-19 testing centres in the country, where he expressed the appreciation of the entire nation to the management and staff, for the solid work they are doing in service to Mother Ghana.
The project which according to the President, is in fulfillment of a pledge he made during a three day working visit to the Ashanti Region in 2017 is expected to be operationalized in 36 months. He reiterated, the project is geared towards the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goal and shall consist of; “seven hundred and fifty (750)-bed building, with outpatient areas for adults and children, ten (10) operating theatres and diagnostic rooms fully equipped with X-Ray, ultrasound and mammography facilities, an intensive care unit, a high dependency unit, isolation rooms and student lecture halls, with the capacity to provide catering services for staff, patients and students”.
The President finalized his speech by assuring Ghanaians of his commitment in fighting the Coronavirus Global Epidermic and also reminisced Ghanaians on COVID-19 measures, “Do not forget to wash your hands regularly with soap under running water or use alcohol-based sanitizers, refrain from shaking hands, cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, wear your masks at all times in public, eat well from local nutritious foods to boost your immune system and ensure food hygiene”.
Also, in attendance were, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Ashanti Regional Minister (Simon Osei Mensah), The Deputy Chief of Staff (Asenso Boakye), The Health Minister(Kwaku Agyemang Manu), The Minister for Agriculture(Dr. Osei Akoto), Member of Parliament for Subin and Deputy Minister for Works and Housing(Eugene Boakye Antwi), The CEO for K.A.T.H, K.M.A boss (Osei Assibey Antwi) and a host of MMDCEs in the Ashanti Region.
