The headmaster of a private school in the Eastern Region has been murdered by unknown gunmen whilst returning home from a trip to town.
Frederick Ohene Gyan was shot on his way home at Pokrom, a town in the Akuapem South Municipality in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
The incident occurred around 10 pm Tuesday.
Frederick Ohene Gyan was apparently done with his day’s activities and was headed back home when the shocking incident occurred.
A report from yen.com.gh says he was fatally shot just before stepping into his house.
He was rushed to the Nsawam government hospital but doctors could not save him as he was pronounced dead a few hours later.
The deceased was said to be a pillar in his community as he ran the Bright Star International School.
He also had a football team, an academy called Bright Stars.
His mortal remains have been deposited at the Nsawam Government hospital pending an autopsy.
Police have also started their investigations into the murder.
Preliminary reports say they found an empty pistol shell at the scene of the crime alongside bloodstains.
His murder comes at a time of increased insecurity in the country.
Everywhere you turn, you are inundated with stories of people being killed, especially for rituals.
It has become so bad, even teenagers are killing others for rituals.
