The Electoral Commission has amended the total vote cast in the just ended 2020 general elections.
In a release, the election governing body said “the chairperson of the electoral commission inadvertently used 13,433,573 as the total valid votes cast. The total valid votes cast is 13,119,46”
Earlier figures presented by the EC as total valid vote cast created controversies among sympathizers of the opposition National Democratic Congress.
The party, therefore, rejected the presidential results.
“This is a fraud election, therefore, we reject the presidential election without any reservation as announced by her, ” the minority leader in parliament, Haruna Iddrisu said.
But the EC in its statement says the discrepancies in the figures does not change anything.
“This does not change the percentage stated for each candidate and the declaration made by the chairperson”.
