Foot soldiers insult comment: Louise Carol being condemned because she is a woman – Feminist argues

Controversial feminist Felicity Nelson has argued the the criticism being meted out to  Dr Louise Carol Serwaa Donkor, an aspirant to the parliamentary candidacy of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Old Tafo Constituency over a an insulting comment about the party’s foot soldiers , is merely because she is a woman and nothing else.

Dr Louise Carol Serwaa Donkor, a Presidential staffer, was suspended from her job when she wrote that she could not reason with political party footsoldiers.

But in an interview with CitiFM, Dr Louise Carol Serwaa Donkor flatly denied making the comments that led to her suspension, attracting a deluge of criticism to herself.

 

 

“You’re seeking to enter Parliament; you hold a PhD, but can’t answer basic questions. Anthony Akoto Osei must be sad for Old Tafo,” one critic on Facebook noted.

But Felicity Nelson has argued that men routinely get away with such lies while women are condemned for the same acts.

It’s simply because men are allowed to hold opinions and women are not

The political space continues to be a hostile arena for women

God forbid if a women isn’t humble then we must use everything we have to humble her

As a woman in the political space, you must literally lick, sugar and pamper in order to be accepted,” she asserted.

 

 

She  served notice that women like her will be getting into politics but won’t be held down by discriminatory expectations from society.

“Some of us will definitely be getting into politics and do note that we will be coming in our most authentic arrogant and abrasive form

Dr Louise Carol Serwaa Donkor is vying to be the parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) for the Old Tafo Constituency with five others, including Vincent Ekow Assifuah, spokesman for the Ministry of Education.
