Undoubted, the most famous armed robber in Ghana is Raymond Ayittey popularly known as Ataa Ayi. Ataa Ayi was arrested in February 2019 following a tip-off from his own niece for an unrelated crime. The police found out he was the most wanted armed robber after his arrest.
In the same year, Ataa Ayi was sentenced to 160 years in prison with hard labor on the charges of robbery and conspiracy to rob by Supreme Court Judge, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie.
A few years after his incarceration, Ataa Ayi found God. He is now devoted born again Christian. Ataa Ayi is now evangelist at the Ankaful Maximum security prisons in Cape Coast, Central Region where he is serving his sentence.
The man whose name sends shivers down the spine of most Ghanaians is also the national leader of prisoners in the country. He champions the good welfare of prisoners and speaks for them.
Recently, Crime Check TV visited the Ankaful Maximum security prisons in Cape Coast and shared a picture taken with Ataa Ayi.
Although Ataa Ayi has 144 years more to spend in prison, he looked so cheerful with hope for the future. Sharing the photo on their Facebook page, Crime Check TV wrote:
With one hundred and forty-fhttps://www.instagram.com/p/B4R4Ay2ApL0/?utm_source=ig_embedour years more to complete his prison sentence, my good friend, Ataa Ayi still has cause to smile. No matter the weight of your economic bondage, don’t forget you have your FREEDOM. Just a little more push could turn your fortunes around because there aren’t physical walls around you. Never lose hope. Fight on. Life is a struggle!
