NDC issues a 3-day ultimatum for the arrest of MCE’s aide, 4 others over attack on Ejura MP

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region has named four  New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante members in Ejura who they accused of carrying out a physical assault  Member of Parliament(MP) of the area, two weeks ago.

The individuals are; Bala, Afoko, Obour, Baba Wale, Hasanu, Abass, Puutin, Anyars, Alhassan Fuseini, Razaku, according to the NDC.

The party described them as “thugs of the NPP” who carried out the attack on the orders of the Municipal Chief Executive and parliamentary candidate of the NPP, Mohammed Sualisu Bamba.

The MP had visited a registration at Kasei – Nkwanta outside the Ejura township to monitor and distribute food to his party polling agents in the ongoing voter’ registration exercise.

He was in the process of interacting with agents in the community where the six gang NPP thugs emerged from nowhere and attacked him.  The MP was struck on the floor and beaten severally by the hoodlums.  He was rushed to the Ejura Government where he was treated and discharged. The attack has since left the MP with a broken toe.

In a statement issued the NDC Ashanti Regional Secretary Kwame Zu, the party recounts the incident; “On the 6th of July 2020, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency, Hon. Muhammed Bawa Braimah was physically attacked without provocation by thugs on the instructions of the MCE for the Ejura Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly at Ejura – Nkwanta”.

The party has also accused the police of inaction after the matter was officially reported.

“In a rather bizarre manner, Superintendent Owusu Bempah has elected to refer to these known thugs at every opportunity as unknown assailants. We have subsequently reported the case to the Divisional Police Commander and the Regional Police Commander awaiting action.”

“Ladies and gentlemen of the media, this development has outraged the whole Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency, and for fear of reprisal attacks, the MCE and the entire NPP leadership now monitors the ongoing voter registration exercise with police and military escorts. “

“We wish to inform the Police and the Military that they are rather in breach of every known law and edict in Ghana since they are rather protecting known and suspected assailants and wrongdoers. In Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency, we know where Bala, Afoko, Obour, Baba Wale, Hasanu, Abass, Puutin, Anyars, Alhassan Fuseini, Razaku and others together with their families live, we have only chosen to be law abiding citizens.  We are by this medium giving the Ejura District Police Command 72 hours to arrest those we have named.”
