NDC snatches Ama Sey’s seat from NPP’s Candidate

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lost the Akwatia seat in the Eastern Region for another time after the exit of Ama Sey who lost in the party’s parliamentary primaries

In the just-ended election, the NDC’s Henry Yiadom Boakye polled 19, 899 of the votes cast on the day whiles Ernest Kumi of the NPP polled 18, 742  of the votes cast on the day.

The President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo polled 21,758 while former President John Mahama of the NDC polled 16,181 votes.

The National Democratic Congress snatched the Akwatia seat in 2012 but the NPP through former Member of Parliament Ama Sey took back the seat in 2016.

However Ama Sey was shockingly beaten during the Party’s controversial primaries.

Although she wanted to contest as an independent candidate, the party talked her out of it.
