One Term MP Boniface Gambila wasn’t my natural successor – Moses Asaga

Moses Aduku Asaga, a former Member of Parliament(MP) for the Nabdam constituency believes his immediate successor was a beneficiary of circumstances.

Boniface Gambila, a one time Upper East Regional Minister and Former Director of the National Service Scheme(NSS) won the 2012 parliamentary elections, crashing Moses Asaga’s fifth attempt to represent his people in parliament.






According to the former NDC MP, all factors leading to his defeat pointed to his then opponent not being his natural successor.

Speaking on Bolgatanga based A1 Radio monitored by, he said: “Boniface Gambila came for only one term and he was removed. It meant that he wasn’t the natural successor of Moses Asaga.”

He further asserted that his loss was a result of his involvement in a chieftaincy race to get his brother nominated Paramount Chief of the Nangodi Traditional Area which falls within his constituency and other factors.

He added: “The good people of Nabdam have seen that I worked hard for them because Nabdam never qualified to get a District. Even if we are talking about a constituency we are among the smallest in Ghana. So for you to be given a district meant that their son Moses Asaga was able to lobby parliament and the ministry of local government to get them the District. A few people may dispute this but that is for political nuances”.
