Former President John Dramani Mahama has directed a jab at the Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as an overnight IT Champion.
The former President was addressing a lecture yesterday as part of his Thank You tour, in which he made some damning assessment of the economy and the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Prior to the 2016 election, then running mate Mahamudu Bawumia was widely described as an economic Messiah due to his precise diagnosis and description of the Ghanaian economy at the time.
Following his induction into office as Vice President, however, things have not been all rosy as the economy continues to be in a struggling state.
However, the Vice President has supervised a massive digitalisation agenda which many experts have said will yield positive results in the long run.
But Mr. Mahama believes the Vice President’s new-found interest in digitalisation is merely to run away from his abysmal performance in handling the economy.
Mr Mahama, delivering his lecture yesterday, said, “It is quite amusing though, that even as the economy faces these severe challenges requiring urgent action, those who have been responsible for the mess, have attempted to make a fluid transition from failed, self-styled economic messiahs of the very recent past, to overnight IT champions.”
