The Ghana Police Service has warned that individuals who defy the lockdown order will be jailed up to a period of 10 years.
You may also be fined an amount up to the tune of GhC12,000.
Head of Prosecutions at the Accra Regional Police Command ACP Lydia Donkor made this revelation during the Ministers’ press briefing in Accra today.
She disclosed that 406 peoples have been arrested so far during the lockdown period with 103 of them in custody, 248 granted bail and 41 being processed for court.
The breakdown of cases per regions is as follows;
Greater Accra 161,
Western North 31,
North East 1,
Upper East 8,
Upper West 2,
Western North 8.
Speaking at the press briefing, she said,
“the Ghana Police Service wishes to advise the general public once again to comply with all the rules and regulations governing the imposition of restrictions act. All my colleague heads of legal and prosecution in other regions have been charged to ensure that they enforce section 6 of the imposition of restrictions 2020 act 1012.”
